Fereday Tenaoshi Chore 01 | Repaired Vintage Workwear Jacket

This jacket is part of the Fereday Tenaoshi Collection — a 1-of-1 series of ten vintage chore jackets, each individually reworked, repaired, and stitched by hand in our Bournemouth studio.

“Tenaoshi” (手直し) is a Japanese word meaning to alter, improve, and repair. It perfectly captures the spirit of this project — honouring the story a garment already holds, while giving it new life through patchwork, sashiko, and visible mending.

Each jacket started as a C-grade vintage find: worn, damaged, and overlooked. Through hours of care, each one has been transformed using a mix of hand-dyed patches, vintage fabric scraps, reinforced seams, and traditional sashiko techniques. The result is a jacket that wears its history proudly — and is ready for a whole new chapter.
